I have to decide that I am more important than my kids for the time I need to do a workout. If I do them at home, I have to have patience when I get interrupted a million times, but sometimes they join me (which is better anyway)
I am using my car less. If I need to mail a letter or pick up an ingredient for dinner I walk/run and will not use the car. Sometimes I intentionally don't get an ingredient I know I will need because I appreciate the motivation of having to hoof it down to the store. I also do my sit-ups and pushups at night while D and I are watching TV. It's a good way to make use of the time.
My boys have been exercising with me since they were 6 weeks old, so they know that the morning is exercise time! Sometimes our runs include a stop at JoAnn's or at the park, to make it more exciting for the boys. If we have something going on in the morning, I get up early and go while Ryan is getting ready, or we make it a family affair and go to the track that night.
As a part of my job, I am supposed to work out three hours a week on the clock. (Don't get too jealous, I work a 50 hour work week instead of 40) Instead of letting those opportunities slip by, like I have on so many other occasions, a group of guys from my squad have formed a workout group to make sure we get it done. That really really helps on days when I feel completely worn out.
This is Scott. So far, I haven't done anything to make workouts a priority really, I have to be honest. Although, I have riden my bike to work more, so I guess that does count. I think I need to get to sleep earlier and that will help me have the energy in the morning or even evening to get things done.
Terrell: I started taking the time to ride my road bike to work so I make sure to get in my workouts
Kellie: I have shared with Terrell and discussed with him my goals, and other topics, like what happened to my motivation and what I (and US as a family) can do! We talk about it lots.
Here's mine. I don't have a system really yet, but this morning I went walk/jogging at a HS track, 6am! It was awesome, might do it 2x a week now!

ReplyDeleteI either work out first thing when I get up in the morning, or first thing when I get home from work if I sleep in.

Rich: Make sure I get home with enough time to exercise before dinner. If not, I exercise after dinner.
